Brittany Murphy...1977 - 2009

Brittany Murphy, the perpetually perky and slightly quirky actress who worked her way up from supporting parts to romantic leads after her breakout role in the film “Clueless,” died Sunday in Los Angeles. She was 32.

Ed Winter, an assistant chief coroner in Los Angeles County, told The Associated Press that Ms. Murphy apparently collapsed in the bathroom and that the cause of death “appears to be natural.” He said that an official cause of death might not be determined for some time.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. Sunday at the home that Ms. Murphy shared with her husband, Simon Monjack, a British screenwriter, in West Hollywood. Ms. Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. Sunday, said Sally Stewart, a spokeswoman for the hospital.

2010...Is Gonna Be An AMAZING Year!

There are a couple of movies coming out in 2010 that look like they're going to be AMAZING!!! And the trailers were released for both of them today; Tim Burton's take on "Alice In Wonderland" starring Johnny Depp (March 5/2010) and Robert Downey Jr. makes his return as Iron Man in "Iron Man 2" alongside Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke & Scarlett Johansson (May 7/2010).

YouTube's Top 5 Of 2009

Yesterday, I posted a sweet little mash-up of the biggest "Viral Videos" of 2009 from the fine folks over at Videogum. Today, You Tube (arguably, the BIGGEST on-line video source) gets in on the action with their list of the 5 most viewed videos of 2009.

For these lists, YouTube looked at view counts for the most popular videos this year and in some instances the combined views across multiple versions of the same video. And the winners are:

1. Susan Boyle - Britain's Got Talent (120+ million views)
2. David After Dentist (37+ million views)
3. JK Wedding Entrance Dance (33+ million views)

Officially the COLDEST PLACE in NORTH AMERICA!!!

Just wanted to share an interesting factoid with everyone...

For those of you who didn't know, NOW2K broadcasts from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It's a great city to live in...home of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL, the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL and host city to (literally) dozens of great festivals every year including the second largest Fringe Festival in the world.

However, earlier today, Edmonton was also the COLDEST CITY IN NORTH AMERICA!!! Early this morning, Environment Canada recorded temperatures of -46.1 Celcius with a wind chill of -58.4 Celcius (for our American friends, that's -50.1 and -73.1 Farenheit respectively) at the Edmonton International Airport. And those temperatures SHATTERED the previous record low of -36.1 Celcius (-32.9 Farenheit) which was set last year.

Congrats to Taylor Swift...5 AMA's!!!

Big congratulations to Taylor Swift who took home FIVE American Music Awards during last nights' ceremonies at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles...including the big one: ARTIST OF THE YEAR! The other big winner of the night was (oddly enough) Michael Jackson, who scored 4 AMA's including Favorite Pop/Rock Artist. This brings Michael's career total AMA's to 25.

Performance-wise, the show was pretty solid with live music from the Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and (a suprisingly normal looking) Lady GaGa.







There were also a couple of "memorable" performances from Adam Lambert & Jennifer Lopez...although some might say they were "memorable" for all the wrong reasons
