Weird Al Goes GAGA!!!

They say you haven't truly made it in the music biz unless "Weird Al" Yankovic parodies one of your songs; I guess Lady Gaga has officially "made it" now...ha ha!

"Weird Al" posted his parody of Gaga's "Born This Way" (called "Perform This Way") on his YouTube page yesterday & originally people were told that Gaga had shot-down his request to release the track as his first single OR put it on his new album (entitled "Al-Pocolypse"). That story hit the Twitter-verse and people were PISSED at Lady Gaga over her alleged snub of the weird one.

Later in the day, however, it was revealed that Gaga hadn't actually heard the parody and it was one of her managers (who I'm sure is now jobless) that had denied Al's request. Gaga listened to the track (at the urging of her "little monsters") and gave it her blessing!

Take a listen for yourself!

Gaga Goes COUNTRY?

There's absolutely no denying the fact that Lady Gaga knows how to market herself and get publicity...and now it looks like she's taking her music to an entirely new audience: Country music fans!

Yesterday, Gaga took to Twitter to announce the "Country Roads Remix" of her latest single, "Born This Way"...check it out for yourself:

I'm not much of a country fan, but I have to admit it's not too shabby.

Lady Gaga Wasn't Exactly "Born This Way"...

In spite of what she says, Lady Gaga wasn't exactly "Born This Way". It took - in her own words - "an artistic journey to f**k myself up".

Gaga opened up to author Neil Strauss for his new book entitled "Everyone Loves You When You're Dead", a collection of snippets of celebrity interviews and told him about the tough times she went through on the road to superstardom.

"I didn't have a bad childhood. All of the things I went through were on my own quest for an artistic journey to f**k myself up like Warhol and Bowie and Mick, and just go for it," she told Strauss.

"Sometimes it freaks me out -- or I should say it petrifies me -- when I think about laying in my apartment (in New York) with bed bugs and roaches on the floor and mirrors with cocaine everywhere, and no will or interest in doing anything but making music and getting high," she admitted.

If you want to read more about Gaga's surreal journey to the top & checkered past, check out the article over at The Huffington Post.

The Feel-Good Story Of 2011...

I'd like to you to meet 10 year-old Maria Aragon from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada:

She posted this video of herself singing a cover of Lady Gaga's latest hit, "Born This Way". The video caught the attention of famed celebrity blogger Perez Hilton...who sent the link to his pal Lady Gaga - who just happened to be having a rotten day. She watched it and sent out the following tweet to her over-15-million Twitter followers:

"Can't stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG0wi1m-89o"

The result? The video has had almost 7 MILLION VIEWS ON YOUTUBE and young Maria actually had the chance to chat with Gaga earlier today courtesy of Winnipeg radio station Hot 103:

She's also been invited to fly to Toronto for Lady Gaga's show and will do a duet on-stage with Gaga.

The only thing I can say about this, is "Wow"...

Classical Music Sucks...Right? WRONG!!!

Raise your hand if you think Classical Music sucks. Yeah...that's what I thought you'd all say. Well, get ready to be proven WRONG!

Let me introduce you to an Australian group called "Aston". Here's a little bit of info about them:

Aston’s musical vision is as simple as it is breathtakingly beautiful: to present a set of classic and contemporary songs like no one has ever heard them before. Contemporary classics presented as classical music.

The six members of Aston, aged between 21 and 23, have come straight out of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the most distinguished music school in Australia. Some members are not due to graduate until the end of the year, but they are all already professional young musicians of the highest calibre. What began as a side-project amongst a bunch of students created an instant buzz that’s led to ASTON being signed by Warner Music Australia, recording a debut album and now preparing to take their unique modern classical sound out to audiences across Australia and the rest of the world.

Here's a sample of what they can do...it's their take on Lady GaGa's hit "Telephone":

GaGa's LeLegal TrTroubles

Fresh from her prison stint in the video for “Telephone,” Lady Gaga could soon be headed to court — not to face any number of angry grindhouse filmmakers whose works inspired that video, but a lawsuit from a songwriter and producer who says he’s the one who gave her that famous stage name.

The Associated Press reported that Rob Fusari, who helped write Lady Gaga songs including “Paparazzi” and “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich,” filed a $30.5 million lawsuit against the singer, saying she has frozen him out of her career as she has become more successful.

Mr. Fusari, who has also worked on hit songs like Will Smith’s “Wild, Wild West” and Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious,” said in his suit that he was first introduced to the singer Stefani Germanotta in 2006, helping to guide her from a rock musician to a dance artist and nicknaming her Lady Gaga, from the Queen song “Radio Ga Ga.”

He said he had received more than $600,000 from Lady Gaga but had not received his full share of song royalties, merchandising revenue and other fees. Representatives for Lady Gaga have not yet responded to the suit, which was filed in a state court in Manhattan.

2010 Grammy Wrap-Up

The 2010 Grammy Awards are behind us and now, it's time for The Official NOW2K Grammy Recap:

BEYONCÉ and TAYLOR SWIFT were the big winners at last night's Grammys. Beyonce won SIX awards including Song of the Year, for her hit "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)". That's the most Grammys won by a woman in a single night. The previous record of FIVE was held jointly by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Alison Krauss. In addition to the new record, Beyoncé is also the only woman to win five Grammys in one night TWICE.

Taylor got scored four Grammys, including the big one: Album of the Year, for her second disc, "Fearless".

LADY GAGA won two Grammys, but both were handed out the live broadcast kicked off. But she did get to kick off the show with her duet with ELTON JOHN. Gaga started off solo, singing "Poker Face". Then she and Elton sat across from each other at a double-sided piano and sang a mash-up of her song "Speechless" and his classic, "Your Song". Check it out here:

One of the highlights of the show was MICHAEL JACKSON'S lifetime achievement award . . . which was accepted by Michael's two eldest children, PRINCE and PARIS. Check out the video from TMZ's website.

Other big winners included Kings Of Leon who picked up a Grammy "Use Somebody" (Record of The Year, Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group & Best Rock Song), Black Eyed Peas who won for their #1 hit "I Gotta Feeling" (Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group) and their album "The E.N.D." (Best Pop Vocal Album) and Jay-Z for his hit "Run This Town featuring Rihanna and Kanye West (Best Rap Song & Best Rap/Sung Collaboration).
